Curtiss 18T-1 Wasp, A3326, was developed as a bomber escort during WWI. Powered by a Curtis D-12 engine, they were quite fast and the U.S. Navy raced them after the war. This aircraft was destroyed in a crash following a crankshaft failure. (Fred C. Dickey Jr. Collection, Greater St. Louis Air and Space Museum)
