The Long Beach, CA, McDonnell Douglas aircraft plant built 446 DC-10s, including 60 KC-1Os for the U.S. Air Force.  The aircraft, with many modifications, went on to be the MD-11.  The author, Terry Waddington, tells the story of the development of this wide body airliner.  He was a McDonnell Douglas engineer and salesman on the scene and saw the development of this aircraft. The DC-10 did not start out as a three engine aircraft.  Appendices include: General Dimensions, Engine Model Comparisons, Writeoffs and Production List.  This book belongs in every airliner buff's library.
